Jisan Rock Fest: Day Three

The last day of the Jisan Rock Festival drew the biggest crowd of the weekend. With Patti Smith, Jet and Oasis headlining on the Big Top stage and Priscilla Ahn and Sister’s Barber Shop headlining on the Green Stage, attendance nearly doubled today.
The rain held off, and the temperature cooled off in the evening. Campers reported that camping over the festival was well-organizing, and the facilities well-maintained, making the stay a comfortable one. Overnight, campers weren’t confined to their camp sites and could continue the party through out the night anywhere on the grounds.

Oasis, the most anticipated act, gave a solid performance with few surprises, and captivating fans with classics like “Wonder Wall” and the appropriately themed “Half Way Around The World.”
Earlier Jet was forced to compete with New York Hot Dogs and Al Saba kebabs and samosas as hungry crowds swelled the food stall lines.

Sister’s Barbershop had local fans jumping in the usually subdued Green Stage tent ending with an encore cover of The Beatles “I Will”.

Priscilla Ahn’s blissful voice had couples linking fingers and swaying to her guitar in the shade of the Green Stage tent.

Godmother of Punk, Patti Smith stunned fans with one of the most memorable performances of the fest with hard-hitting renditions of “Rock and Roll Nigger” and “Lions and Limbs”. She ended her set by holding up her guitar and saying, “This is the only weapon your generation needs.” Her moving message of peace and power to the people was ecstatically received the crowd.
According to people who managed to pull off a Pentaport-Jisan combo this weekend, the attendance in Incheon was significantly less. Despite the Deftones drawing a crowd, it looks like Jisan won the Korean Rock Festival Battle of ’09.
