The 3rd Chungmuro International Film Festival

In Korean film history, the Chungmuro area in central Seoul is considered to be the place where it all started. Three years ago, the Chungmuro International Film Festival (CHIFFS) was conceived as a means to confirm the area’s cultural significance and the growing recognition of Korean film in world cinema. For its third year, CHIFFS has selected the theme, “Yesterday, Now, and Forever”, and will screen 214 films of various genres from 40 countries at multiple locations in the downtown area from August 24th to September 1st.
Check the English and Korean websites (there are discrepancies between the two) for a list of featured programs. The opening gala will be held at the Sejong Centre for the Performing Arts and the closing night gala will be screened at the National Theater of Korea. Regular screenings will be at the Daehan Cinema, Joonang Cinema, CGV Myeondong, and Dongdaemun Megabox. Ticket and contact information is available on the English website. Check The One One Four later this week for a complete list of festival films that will be screened with English subtitles.
