Get Your Fingers Sticky at Seoul’s Only Vegan Bakery
The fact that veganism hasn’t really caught on in Korea didn’t stop Sticky Fingers from opening up its No Milk, No Eggs, No Butter bakery in Seoul’s Shinsegae Department store. For the past four years Sticky Fingers has been introducing shoppers to pastries and bread made without any animal products at all. Most of their customers are allergy sufferers who aren’t specifically interested in animal rights or the environmental aspects of products they sell.
The original Sticky Fingers opened in Washington D.C in 2002 with the goal of feeding people’s minds as well as their bellies and are strong supporters of animal rights groups and animal-free products. The most popular item at the Seoul location are the sticky buns but the owner says the apple pie is her favorite because they make it without sugaring the apples too much so you can still taste the fresh appley crunch when you bite into it. The One One Four got to try a piece when we visited and you can take it from us that she ain’t lying. It’s one damn fine piece of pie. Sticky Fingers is open from 10-8 in the Shinsegae Department Store location. You can also buy her wares at the factory in Moonjung-dong.
If you have heard of another vegan bakery in Korea we would love to hear about it. Send us an email at info@theoneonefour.com
