Mexican Film Festival at Seoul Cinematheque

The Seoul Cinematheque, in co-operation with the Mexican, Spanish and Venezuelan embassies, will host their 10th Mexican Film Festival from Sept. 1st to the 9th. The festival will showcase six films, two being screened with English subtitles. The films highlight some of the best new independent talent in Mexico at a time when Mexican directors Guilermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón Orozco and Alejandro González Iñárritu have risen to the top of international cinema.
The two films screened with English subtitles, “40 Dias” and “7 Dias” (strangely coincidental), are from two relatively unknown directors outside of Mexico. “40 Dias”, directed by Juan Carlos Martinez, turns the cliche of the American cross-country road trip to Mexico on its head with its three protagonists driving from Mexico across the States in search of New York City.
“7 Dias”, by director Fernando Kalife, nominated for 5 Mexican Academy Awards, tells the story of a man who bets all his money on booking the band U2. The catch, he has only seven days to do it before the mob comes to collect.
Admission is w6000 for adults, w5000 for children and w4000 for seniors and members.
