September Line-Up at The Daegu Art Cinema

This September’s schedule at the Daegu Art Cinema is packed with award-winning films from some big name directors in world cinema. Also continuing its run from last months line up is the Japanese comedy “Happy Flight” beening screened with Korean subtitles only.
플라스틱 시티 ”Plastic City” (“Dangkou”), 2008 A Brazil, Japan and China co-production that premiered at the 2008 Vince Film “sets father and son immigrant gangsters against each other and against the Sao Paulo mafia.”
마터스: 천국을 보는 눈 ”Martyrs” (2008) A French-Canadian co-production was the talk of the town at Cannes last year with people saying ” a nadir in extreme degradation, the ultimate in so-called “torture porn” and the end of cinematic civilization.”
로프트”Loft” (2005) a ”mummy” picture by “Tokyo Sonata” director Kiyoshi Kurosawa has been called “formulaic” but “worth a look my most reviewers.
약속해줘 From two-time Palme d’Or winning Serbian director Emir Kusturica‘s “Promise Me This” (“Zavet”) 2007 is “set in a rural area of Belgrade. Tsane, a young boy, has to complete his dying grandfathers wish: to sell the cow and bring back the wife.”
Check the theatre’s website for show times. No word from the programmer on which films have English subtitles.
