Donizetti’s Lelisir D’Amore at The Daegu Opera House this Thursday

Gaetano Donizetti’s Lelisir D’Amore opens this Wednesday at The Daegu Opera House as part of the 2009 Daegu International Opera Festival. The production is dirested by Italian director Paolo Baiocco in partnership with artist from three different Korean companies. There will be three shows: Thursday, Oct. 8th at 7:30pm, Friday Oct. 9th at 7:30 and Sat. Oct. 10 3pm

Won’sMother composed by Sung-ryong Cho is about a mummy found in 1998 in Andong that dated back to the Joseonera. Found next to the mummy was a pair of hemp shoes and a love letter from he man’s wife. Cho based the opera on the novel “Neungsohwa” about the true story of the discovery of the 400 year-old pieces in November of 2007. Performances are scheduled for Fri. Oct. 23 at 7:30pm and Sat. Oct. 24 at 3pm
