PIFF Day Two: Saturday’s Best Picks

Where Are You?
Tomorrow at PIFF, I am going to see three films: At 13:30 at the Centrum City CGV, the latest from Japanese director Kobayashi Masahiro, WHERE ARE YOU?, a drama about a teenager who loses his mother, turns to crime, and then tries to reconcile with his estranged father.
At 16:30 at the Haeundae Megabox, AN AIMLESS BULLET, the 1961 drama by Yu Hyun-mok that is widely regarded as the greatest of all Korean films.

Night and Fog
At 19:30 back at the CGV, Hong Kong director Ann Hui’s NIGHT AND FOG, a drama about the state of marriage in contemporary China.
Also at the Megabox, I wanted to see the Korean horror film SORUM at 13:00 and CAFE NOIR, the three hour debut film by Korean critic Jung Sung-Il at 19:00, but press tickets for both were sold out. However, there may well be regular tickets available, especially if you are at the box office early.
Early impressions from PIFF: there is plenty of press, but no major crowds as of yet. Seems like plenty of hotel space available at affordable prices. Then again, I have just arrived, and things may change by tomorrow. But there seems to be no reason to fear if you are making last minute plans.
