Thursday’s Pics for PIFF

Cafe Noir

Cafe Noir

Some suggestions for the final full day of screenings at PIFF:

At 13:00 at Lotte Cinema, there is IVUL from director Andrew Kotting, a film that has gotten very good buzz at the festival. And if you missed it on Tuesday, Tsai Ming-Liang’s FACE is playing at Cinus Busan at 13:30. Although not for every taste, it’s one of my favorites of the festival. At Haeundae Megabox at 15:30 is the three-hour Korean film CAFE NOIR. Made by the former film critic Jung Sung-Il, it is especially recommened for fans of Korean cinema, as it contains numerous references and homages. At Cinus Busan at 16:30 is Jane Campion’s BRIGHT STAR, one of the bigger films playing at the festival, but one that may not necessarily get a release here in Korea. And if you missed the sold out screening on Tuesday (like I did), Kore-eda Hirokazu’s AIR DOLL is playing at Cinus Busan at 19:30.
