Yesterday, Korea’s two largest unions agreed to call a general strike if the government continues to push two controversial labour bills in the National Assembly. The bills would allow multiple unions at one company and ban companies from paying full-time employees in unions. The health ministry also announced yesterday that 17 million people will receive free H1N1 vaccines on October 27th. Those receiving the free flu vaccine include medical staff, children, pregnant women, senior citizens, and members of the military. Others in Korea will be able to pay for the flu shot in January at the earliest.  Also on Wednesday, Amnesty International released a report that criticizes the treatment of migrant workers in Korea and specifically looks at the experience of females who travel here to work.
