Poached News: Top News Sources, Garbage Petitions, Seoul’s Skyscraper, and Madoff-ed in Vancouver
The Chosun Ilbo reports that the Chosun Ilbo is Korea’s favorite newspaper. A recent survey for the Korea Advertiser’s Association found that a majority of respondents read their news in the Chosun, watch MBC, and use Naver as an online source. When asked to choose the most influential media in Korea, online or in print, a significant majority of respondents chose KBS. In Seoul, Namdaemun business owners have chosen to file a petition to stop the municipal government from going ahead with the construction of the controversial underground garbage depot that’s planned to neighbour the historic gate. Meanwhile, plans to build Jamsil’s Lotte Super Tower 123, the world’s second tallest skyscraper, have it scheduled for completion in 2014. In Vancouver, Korean-Canadians were scammed out of millions in a hedge fund scheme run by a man now in custody in Korea.
